Tube

Tube - Graph Based Programming

A protoypical implementation of a graph-based programming language based on python with a prototypical IDE for Mac OS X
The project started in 2004.

Teaching / Courses

  • Hauptseminar "Objektorientiertes Wissensmanagemenz" (SS 06) FINISHED

This praktikum with 24 studentes (2.-4. Semester) teaches basic skills in programming providing tutorial-like exercises. The students will learn ANSI C, a little bit of Objective C for the Apple's Cocoa framework and of course basics of the OpenGL libraries. A similar, prior Praktikum was mentioned commendatory in an article of the MacGuardians.

  • Software Engineering Praktikum (WS 03/04) FINISHED
Project with 20 students (5.-9. Semester): Design and development of an application for forecasting logistic activities. The project tries to show the students a real-world project (e.g. there is a real client) and let them participate in requirements elicitation and system design as well as project management.
The system is based upon a generic data model to ensure the extensability and configuratability of the application and the easy exchange of information among different users.

  • OpenGL-Programmierpraktikum (WS02/03) FINISHED
This praktikum with 18 studentes (2.-4. Semester) teaches basic skills in programming providing tutorial-like exercises. The students will learn ANSI C, a little bit of Objective C for the Apple's Cocoa framework and of course basics of the OpenGL libraries. The praktikum was mentioned commendatory in an article of the MacGuardians.

FA2004

Ferienakademie 2004: Kurs "Context Awareness"

This Ferienakademie course is not based on the usual seminar style, but requires active participation in the development of a prototype during the academy. As a preparation for the course, you will not have to prepare a talk. Instead we will have to become knowledgeable in of the tools we will use to build the prototype (Image understanding, image manipulation, blue screening, augmented reality tracking, film editing, audio processing, DVD creation).

Cargo&Logistic

In this lab course a distributed, interactive logistic tool was developed, the focus lies upon the visualization of freight flow and stocking information where visionary and modern visualization and user-interaction concepts are implemented experimentally (see teaching announcement as well).
The project started in Oct 2003 and ended Mar 2004.

CURRENT DAs / BAs

  • OntoSearch: Domain independent Generation and Management of User Queries in Semantic Web Applications FINISHED
Design and Implementation of a query engine that operates on generic data models like RDF or OWL.

  • Simple web content management with flexible schemas with focus print output IN PROGRESS
Implementation of a content management system based on a generic data model with semantics support (e.g. topic maps). The project consists of two parts: Te first part is to design and develop a framework / a library that supports the desired content management functionality (flexible extension of topic and articel types, layouts, workflow support grouping / organizing articels and topics for printing ), the second part is to implement a simple example application to show the strength of the system. The system should be implemented a common web programming language like php, backend should be something like postgres / mysql. For print output pdf generation is needed. (ask PatrickRenner)

  • Implementation of a web based media browser based on file system stored and organized project files FINISHED
For media- and document-rich projects a web based media browser is to develop that gathers information from file system stored project artifacts like media files (movies, image sequences, etc.) or other documents. It shall support the traceability of project artifacts throughout the entire project phase from document creation to delivery. Various browsing capabilities should be implemented (e.g. depending on creation and modification dates, users, projects, work packages etc.) for the web part and preview movies and images for web viewing should be available in different versions automatically. As the source for the system - the file system structure - varies with different tools and projects, the file system scanning has to be configurable and the data model must be ready and flexible enough for changing schemas. The thesis will be supervised in cooperation with a media company from Munich, so a real requirements and a testing environment can be provided for this thesis. (ask PatrickRenner)

  • omeemo32x32.png OmeemO - A hypergrpah based editor for Mac OS X FINISHED
In this diploma thesis an editor is implemented, that brings together different "desktop"-artefacts like email, addresses, links, folders, files, projects etc. in one editor to provide a generic database for everydays project organization. The editor will be based on topics maps, rdf or a similar data model and will be impemented for Mac OS X.

  • SemArch - Spatial data in archaeological field engineering: A generic approach FINISHED
In this diploma thesis a set of tools will be implemented that handles spatial data of different application domains. A generic approach in data management provides a uniform way of exchanging and modifying data in different tools.

  • distOP / Medusa FINISHED
Distributed Infrastructure for short time Operation Prearrangement: In this project the unused time of medical personnel on their way from one hospital to another is tried to optimized. The designed and prototypical implemented system provides a way of getting access to medical patient data in mobile and distributed environments. Aspects of data management as well as security are addressed.

CURRENT SEPs

  • TopicMap processor framework for Mac OS X based on an existing student implemented TM-processor (ask PatrickRenner)

  • MacSCP FINISHED
Design and implementation of a graphical secure copy (scp) client for Mac OS X based upon the scp und ssh protocols.
